You drive to Eskifjörður, a well-known, beautiful fishing village, with small dock houses, which is also known for the Helgustaðir mine, for centuries the world‘s main supplier of Iceland spar, a transparent variety of calcite.

We start our sightseeing in Eskifjörður by visiting a private stone and mineral collection of more than 1000 cut and polished stones and minerals. After that we visit the remains of the Helgustaðir mine. We will visit an old dock house from 1890 and, before having a taste of traditional Icelandic food, we will go on a boat tour where you’ll have the opportunity to catch fish. The East Iceland Maritime Museum, in an old trading house, traces the history of seafarers and also on display are souvenirs from the history of labour and industry. After visiting this museum and before leaving for the airport, we will look around in a little bookshop where you can buy almost everything you need and don‘t need. Pls. wear good shoes and bring a rain coat. The tour includes a short hike.Children, ages 11 and younger, accompanied by adults get a 50% discount, before taxes and charges.
