Take the early morning flight from Reykjavík to the town of Egilsstaðir, East Iceland.
Our day tour starts with a drive to the Húsey Seal Farm to explore wildlife including seals and birds.
The farm also offers an opportunity to get to know the Icelandic horse and even take a short horseback ride. After a good stop and refreshments we'll visit the Lagarfoss Power Station.
On our way to Borgarfjörður eystri we'll enjoy the scenic open-space view from the
Vatnsskarð pass and visit the rhyolite canyon of Hvannagil before arriving for a late lunch at the local restaurant.
There we'll taste the local delicacy before taking a short walk in the village of Bakkagerði, whose sights include the famous fisherman's turf house Lindarbakki and the altar piece by the celebrated Icelandic painter Kjarval.
We'll visit the local fish factory and end the tour in the local Elf and Fairy Tale Centre to hear local folktales and see some amazing stones found in the area. Before leaving this colourful area - a geologist's paradise - we'll visit the puffin island Hafnarhólmi where the puffins stay until the 15th of August.
After a 10-hour tour we arrive back at the Egilsstaðir Airport to discuss the day while awaiting the Air Iceland evening flight back to Reykjavík
