Air Iceland allows the following Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) systems onboard:
Use of portable oxygen concentrators is allowed during all phases of flight provided that the unit is stored underneath the seat like any other carry-on item while in use during taxi, takeoff and landing.
Portable oxygen concentrators are considered assistive devices. They do not count toward carry-on limits, whether or not they are used on board.
The passenger must notify Air Iceland of intent to bring a POC onboard at the time of reservation. He must also present during check-in a written statement signed by a licensed physician that:
This statement shall be kept in the person's possession and presented to the crew upon request. A copy of this statement can be found on Air Iceland's website.
The user must ensure that the POC is free of oil, grease or other petroleum products and is in good condition free from damage or other signs of excessive wear or abuse. Only lotions or salves that are oxygen approved may be used by persons using the portable oxygen concentrator device.
The passenger must carry on the flight a sufficient number of batteries to power the device for the duration of the oxygen use specified in the user's physician statement, including a conservative estimate of any unanticipated delays. He must also ensure that all extra batteries carried onboard the aircraft in carry-on baggage are protected from short circuit and are packaged in a manner that protects them from physical damage.
